Ebbw Vale Today - Introduction to the town and the site
Welcome to Ebbw Vale Today - the best site for all the information you need on the South Wales Valleys Town of Ebbw Vale. The site has been up and running for nearly 3 years at this present time and we are looking forward to tracking Ebbw Vale's progress as the many developments within town continue. Ebbw Vale is the largest of the three Blaenau Gwent Valleys, located in the heart of the South Wales Valleys; the town is rich in local history, steeped in the Steel and Mining that made the town what it is today. Today Ebbw Vale enjoys much investment from both the local council and the Welsh assembly government, the main development we currently have underway is that of the redevelopment of the former Steelworks site which sits at the centre of the valley, this involves over £300million worth of work to be undertaken at the site. The construction of Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan is well underway, this alone is costing just over £35million and will provide health care treatment for Ebbw Vale and beyond. Ebbw Vale hosted the national Eisteddfod back in 1956 and is set to host it again in 2010 at the former Steelworks site. Although Ebbw Vale has had some fairly bad publicity in the past the town is now on the up, with some serious money being pumped our way and of course the hugely popular Ebbw Valley Rail Link providing us with a link to the Capital, things are looking good for the town - but don't tell the Tredegar lot - they get very jealous you see!
Ebbw Vale Today has a great many features for you to use and explore at your leisure and please remember to contact me if you have any suggestions, questions, comments e.t.c.
