The new hospital in Ebbw Vale will be one of the most modern in the country, it will be open by 2010 on the Steelworks site, it is costing around £34 million to build and will be set out over 10,000 square ft of floorspace.

The hospital will comprise of the following features:

• 107 independent en-suite rooms
• Outpatient clinics
• Local diagnostics
• Minor injures unit
• Therapy unit
• Mental health unit
• A rehabilitation centre
• Palliative care
• Elderly patient care

The hospital will be managed by Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust
